When I think about my friends, I would say that I have five types of friends:
- · The rooted ones- these friends are fully rooted in God and just love God.
·
The
unbelievers- these ones just haven’t experienced the love of God
and don’t know what they are missing out on but they will in Jesus name. I do enjoy spending time with this type of friends but I always try to be conscious that I am supposed to set an example because it's so easy to conform to their behaviour without realising.
·
The
players- certain behaviours of these type of friend’s anger and upset
me when I feel God’s heart. These are mainly the people that confuse the world
because they claim that they are Christians, yet they do things to blaspheme
God. They KNOW between right and wrong but yet CHOOSE to do wrong (sin is a
choice). For example, some friends don’t invite me to their parties because I will
ruin it. Not ruin it as in I will crash up the place but ruin it in terms of my
presence will not make them comfortable to do all the nonsense and sinful
things that they want to do. I remember going to my first house party. I thought
it will be a normal party with Christian music because the person throwing the
party was a Christian. It was the exact opposite! It felt like I was in a dark
room with people who had completely lost their identities in God and had no
self value- most of the people there were Christians! It was my first time of
experiencing someone drunk that close me and it made me slightly scared. Not
up to five minutes, I picked up my bag and coat and went home without letting
anyone see me. What’s funny to me about this story is that on the day of the
party, I was with a friend who’s just got back from University and I was
saying to her that I really want to experience what’s it’s like going to clubbing
during my University fresher’s week. It seems like God answered my prayer.
After that party, I don’t need to experience it at University anymore. I have
accepted the fact that a lot of my lukewarm friends will not invite me to
certain outings/ parties and that’s okay. But they all know how to invite me to
special programmes in their church -.- Okay.
I think being lukewarm is a mindset. How? When a Christian who has the Holy Spirit inside of
them does things that God is not pleased with, I believe your conscious/a voice
inside tells you what you’re doing is wrong. If you ignore that voice long enough, worldly
behaviours become normal to you and you end up thinking its okay to behave like
that. I do pray for my friends that are lukewarm to change and make Jesus their
priority.
·
The
babies- these friends know a bit about God and they are interested in
God but if you don’t follow them up in their walk with God, they drift from God
and easily go back to the world.
·
The
tasters- these friends are tasting what God can do for them. They haven’t
made up their mind whether they want to be a Christian and it’s a working
progress to get them to make their mind up. They tend to remember God as the
problem solver because they must have experienced God solving their problems.
